Daughter of bankrupt bank president on the run

One of the people implicated in the collapsed Peravia Bank fraud case, the daughter of the bank’s president, Miriam Serret Aponte, alias Chiquitica, is reported to have fled the country via Haiti despite being summoned by the National District Prosecution Service three months ago.

According to Cesar Amadeo Peralta, lawyer for some of the fraud victims, Serret Aponte was wanted for questioning due to a series of complaints made against her by people in Bani for allegedly using their identities to obtain fraudulent loans from the bank.

She is thought to have entered the United States on 20 February 2016 on a flight from Port-au-Prince.

An arrest warrant against Serret Aponte was issued in March this year, and the authorities are seeking to extradite her back to the Dominican Republic. http://www.7dias.com.do/portada/2016/05/24/i211216_hija-presidente-banco-peravia-huyo-del-pais-hace-meses-traves-haiti.html
