San Pedro de Macoris judge Farida Abud has sent Police Sergeant Luz Divina Martinez Pimentel to pre-trial custody at Najayo women’s prison, her husband Hugo Antonio Zorrilla to the Anamuya jail in Higuey and Jansel Mercedes to the Cucama jail in La Romana. The three are the main suspects of the murders of several drivers in the eastern region. They are accused of murdering truck driver German Quezada Arredondo and passenger bus drivers David Polanco and Gary Wilson Rodriguez. Investigations revealed that the gang would hire the drivers in order to steal the vehicles. It appears that the victims who resisted were beaten and then dumped in a pit and left to die. The discovery of the bodies led investigators to locate the suspects. Several other drivers who were victims of the same gang have since come forward to share more details.
