The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources has announced the celebration of World Environment Day this Sunday, 5 June. A series of events is planned to encourage environmental protection and caring for natural resources. The day will kick off at the Mirador del Este Park in Santo Domingo East with a 5K Run for the Environment around the park itself. The race is open to runners over the age of 18. Minister Bautista Rojas Gomez said that the slogan, “Go crazy with life” is aimed at encouraging an appreciation of the environment. In the Dominican Republic, World Environment Day is also the Family Friendship Day (Decree 363-13).
