COE reports 11 towns cut off

The Emergency Operations Center (COE) reports that it is monitoring floods and assessing possible evacuations in El Seibo, Santiago, Puerto Plata and San Pedro de Macoris.

Flooding in the northern province of Puerto Plata has already led to ten people being evacuated and cut off 11 communities. Damage to two houses and a bridge was reported.

The COE is maintaining a yellow alert for two provinces and a green alert in 15 other provinces and Greater Santo Domingo. A yellow alert is in place for Puerto Plata and Santiago. A green alert is in place for Santiago Rodriguez, San Juan de la Maguana, San Cristobal, Montecristi, Dajabon, Peravia (Bani), San Pedro de Macoris, La Altagracia (Higuey), Espaillat (Moca), Duarte (San Francisco de Macoris), La Vega, Valverde (Mao), Monte Plata, Elias Pina, La Romana and Greater Santo Domingo

According to the COE, the flooding of the Unijica River has cut off the community of Perez in Imbert in Puerto Plata, and the approaches to the bridge that connects Ranchito with Guananico have been affected. In the same province, Gran Parada de Yasica and the highway between Gran Parada and Montellano have also been affected.
