At 2:13 yesterday afternoon, Tuesday 7 June 2016, an earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale was felt in many parts of the country. The epicenter was 14 kilometers from Hato Mayor (89 km from Santo Domingo) and was 86 kilometers deep, according to the United States Geological Survey.
According to the National Seismological Center at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) the earthquake measured 4.3.
