The media reports that at around 7am on 16 June 2016, four men robbed a family home in the upscale Los Cacicazgos neighborhood in Santo Domingo, getting away with RD$300,000 in cash as well as jewelry and other valuables.
The media reports that the house, on Calle Hatuey, is in the same neighborhood as the homes of President Danilo Medina and Supreme Court of Justice president Mariano German Mejia. The Police Central Agency for Criminal Investigations (Dicrim) is investigating the case.
The house owner’s sister, Raysa Guerrero, told NCDN that the criminals took advantage and got in when an employee opened the gate to put out the trash. The armed criminals entered, gagged everyone who was at home, and broke a safe to remove more than RD$300,000 in addition to jewelry and other valuables.
