The National Meteorological Office (ONAMET) has announced that a tropical wave is moving across the Mona Passage from the southeast of Puerto Rico and is expected to cause thunderstorms and rain as it moves towards the west, especially at night. It has placed the following provinces on alert in anticipation of possible flooding and overflowing of rivers: La Altagracia (Higuey), La Romana, San Pedro de Macoris, El Seibo, Greater Santo Domingo, Monte Plata, San Cristobal, Barahona, Peravia (Bani), San Jose de Ocoa, Azua and Pedernales.

Meanwhile, the fourth hurricane of the 2016 Atlantic Hurricane Season, Danielle, formed off the coast of Mexico, poses no danger to the Dominican Republic.
