According to the National Meteorological Office (Onamet), a tropical wave and a low-pressure trough are moving past the country but scattered showers and occasional thunderstorms are expected. Rainfall is forecast for Monsenor Nouel (Bonao), Sanchez Ramirez (Cotui), Duarte (San Francisco de Macoris), La Vega, La Altagracia, La Romana, San Pedro de Macoris, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, San Cristobal, San Jose de Ocoa, San Juan, Azua, Elias Pina, Dajabon, Independencia, Peravia and Barahona.
The weather office adds that hot temperatures will continue to be felt nationwide, despite the increased cloud cover towards the afternoon with scattered heavy showers and the occasional thunderstorm in the northeast, southeast, southwest, the central mountains and the border region. Onamet maintains its alerts for urban flooding, and rising water levels in streams and creeks due to soil saturation.
