The president of the Venezuelan National Assembly, Henry Ramos Allup, has said that the opposition does not accept holding any more meetings in the Dominican Republic. He said they are scratching off the DR for talks.
According to the Venezuelan newspaper, El Mundo, Tamos Allup spoke about the meeting of the Organization of American States (OAS) recently held in Santo Domingo and said that it was a success, despite the maneuvers of the Venezuelan government. He referred to the United Nations of South America (Unasur) talks that have been mediated by several former presidents including Spaniard Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, who has been disqualified as a facilitator in these conversation by several of those who opposed him.
Tamos Allup said that Rodriguez Zapatero, Martin Torrijos and Leonel Fernandez had all been proposed and agreed upon by the OAS but that they were not in agreement and that it was up to them to decide the agenda for any dialogue and that the facilitators cannot be judges nor arbiters.
He said that if they meet anywhere it would be in Venezuela or at the head office of the OAS.
