Members of the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) have confiscated hundreds of portions of cocaine, crack and marijuana weighing over 3,000 grams and arrested around 15 people.
Two of those arrested were in possession of a pistol and a revolver. DNCD agents also confiscated weighing scales, motorcycles and cell phones.
The arrests took place around the country. In the Punta Cana area, one man, known as Piloto, aged 31, was arrested in Bavaro with 67 portions of cocaine weighing 326 grams. Another was arrested in Cabeza del Toro and a third, a 28-year old Haitian known as Fiti, on the beach in El Cortecito in Bavaro.
In Villa Espesa, in Las Matas de Farfan, San Juan de la Maguana province a 29-year old woman was arrested with a pound of marijuana and a 22-year old youth was arrested in San Francisco de Macoris with both marijuana and cocaine. The latter had already been arrested twice before on drug related charges.
In La Romana an 18-year old known as El Bolo, who has been arrested on drug charges three times previously, was again arrested, this time with 537 grams of cocaine, crack and marijuana.
