Technical Secretary of the Presidency Temistocles Montas announced that in “no more than three weeks we (the DR) will have an agreement with the IMF”. Montas spoke following the meeting of the President’s economic advisors yesterday at the Presidential Palace. The minister told reporters that the fundamental matters have been agreed upon. They are just ironing out the details right now. Governor of the Central Bank Hector Valdez Albizu, Finance Minister Vicente Bengoa, Bank Superintendent Rafael Camilo, chief presidential economic advisor Julio Ortega Tous and Secretary of the Presidency Danilo Medina were the chief figures at the meeting. Montas said they discussed the need for Congress to approve the Bond Bill that would authorize the President to request congressional authorization to issue up to $3.83 billion in capital for the Central Bank and the government-owned Banreservas. The funds are requested to make foreign loan payments.
