The Superintendent of Electricity Francisco Mendez told reporters that the majority of the complaints received from consumers were true. As reported in Hoy, Mendez said that he demanded that the electricity distributors treat their customers with dignity, especially those that pay their bills on time. He pointed out that those that pay their bills, something over 50% of the clients, are paying for those that do not pay on time, if ever. According to Mendez, his Comsumer Protection Office processes over 800 complaints each month and more than 60% are right in their claims. Last month the Superintendent ordered the distributors to return RD$11 million to consumers.
