Ramos likely to stay in jail

The block of deputies of the PRD decided to accept the opinion of the Supreme Court of Justice that sentenced irregularly-sworn-in deputy for La Vega Radhames Ramos Garcia to 18 months in jail for smuggling Chinese across the border with Haiti. Ramon Agramonte, spokesman for the PRD block in the Chamber, told Hoy newspaper about the decision. Ramos Garcia was a vice consul in Haiti who publicly admitted to the millions that were being made in people trafficking over the border. The Chamber of Deputies is due to meet on Tuesday to formally vote on this matter.
