Denial denied

Speaking from the press office of the Presidential Palace, Presidential spokesman Roberto Rodriguez Marchena denied that President Leonel Fernandez and former President Hipolito Mejia had reached a direct or indirect agreement to lower the political tension and foster governance. Nevertheless, political advisor to former President Mejia, former Agriculture Minister Eligio Jaquez confirmed yesterday news reports that Monsignor Agripino Nunez Collado had mediated a political truce between Fernandez and Mejia. And Monsignor Nunez Collado, as reported in Hoy newspaper, confirmed that he had spoken separately with President Fernandez, Secretary of the Presidency Danilo Medina and former President Mejia to discuss the green house affair whereby state prosecutors contend that state financed green houses were allotted to former government officers. Monsignor Nunez said that the government had given guarantees that the green houses allotted to President Mejia were not being questioned. Monsignor confirmed that he had spoken to Fernandez and Mejia about the need to lower political heat. Monsignor expressed his satisfaction on the political truce declared by Mejia.
