The Italian police have announced that they have dismantled a drug dealing gang with the assistance of the Spanish National Police. The gang is accused of trafficking in cocaine to Italy from South America, via the Dominican Republic.

Several people have been arrested including those linked to a Calabrian mafia family, Morabito-Bruzzanti-Palamara. In addition, 19 arrest warrants are in place for more people.

The gang was operating between Italy and Colombia, Peru, Dominican Republic and Spain and the police say they have been able to confiscate large quantities of cocaine that were being sent to Italy and other parts of Europe but the precise amount was not stated.
