Woodpeckers by film maker Jose María Cabral was shown on Monday, 23 January 2017 at the Sundance Film Festival in a freezing cold Salt Lake City, Utah. The drama, filmed with real people at three Dominican jails (men and women in Najayo and La Victoria prisons), is competing in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition of the festival. Cabral called the showing the most important of his career.
