The media carried reports that the lead suspect in the murder of two radio broadcasters in San Pedro de Macorís may have committed suicide after he was cornered by the authorities, as reported in SIN. The body of 59-year old José Rodríguez (Jose Palmita, Joselito) reportedly was found in bushes located in front of the San Pedro de Macorís free zone, in the Los Multi barrio. The announcement of the finding of the body took place only hours after broadcasters Leonidas Martínez and Luis Manuel Medina were buried in San Pedro de Macorís.
The Police has yet to release the official version on why Rodríguez was sought as the lead suspect. Initial reports circulating in the media are that he was unable to control his anger over a real estate deal that did not go his way and in which the broadcasters had mediated.
