What happened to the billing?

The Superintendence of Power said that consumers that have received considerably increases in their billing in April and May should report these first to the power distribution company. If their request is not attended to within a 10-day period, or if the response is not satisfactory, the client can take the complaint to the Superintendence of Power’s Protecom offices. He said that the Superintendence has ordered the return of RD$94 million to consumers for undue charges. Mendez said that this month they have received an abnormal amount of complaints on overbilling from consumers. He said that in the past five months they have not authorized the power distributors to increase their rates.

As reported in the Listin Diario, the administrator of the government-owned Edesur power distribution company, Ruben Bichara said that they are investigating the causes of billings that have increased more than 40% in the past two months to determine where the irregularity is coming from.
