More than 4,000 police officers were promoted effective 27 February 2017, announced the director general of the Police, Mayor General Nelson Ramón Peguero Paredes. The promotions mean the agents will receive significant wage increases as part of the general wage improvements this year.
The announcement included 1,426 police officers that were promoted from private to corporal, 557 from corporal to sergeant, 710 from sergeant to sergeant mayor, 747 from sergeant mayor to second lieutenant, and 544 from second lieutenant to first lieutenant.
