
President Danilo Medina issued an impassioned plea for the Dominican people to support reforestation during a speech in which he highlighted the importance of forests on occasion of International Day of Forests.
On Tuesday 21 March 2017, the President encouraged the public to become more aware of the importance of protecting Dominican ecosystems. Medina said it that we must conserve our forest resources and time is of the essence.
To mark the United Nations’ International Day of Forests, Medina visited Hondo Valle in Elías Piña on the border with Haiti where he participated in a symbolic tree-planting day together with Environment Minister Francisco Dominguez Brito.
