Suspects arrested in the murders of Columbus Lighthouse women

The Police announced the arrest of several persons suspected of being involved in the murders of several women whose bodies were found this year in an area around of the Faro a Colon.

The suspects arrested are:
25-year old Wellington Encarnación Medina (a) Rafelin, accused of the death of 16-year old Amarfis de Oleo Martínez in February. He was ordered to a year in preventive custody.

Also, former army corporal Florencio Martín Tiburcio Núñez was detained and is suspected to have been involved in the death of 13-year old Vianela Reynoso Amparo. Her body was found in a garbage dump in Villa Duarte, in the area of the Columbus Lighthouse. Tiburcio is being investigated for his involvement in the death of 29-year old Isabela Valdez Valdez, whose body was found on Ave. Ecológica, in Santo Domingo East.

Also arrested was 34-year old Daniel Camilo Frías Willmore who admitted to the beating death of 23-year old Caren Caterin Figueroa Henríquez, whose body was found near the Faro a Colón. Frías said he fatally struck the woman in the head with a rock during a heated argument over a payment of RD$500.

The Police also have arrested 27-year old Manuel Pérez Hernández and 27-year old José Arismendy Canela Feliz, who admitted to the murder of 21-year old Yan Carlos Nova on 17 March, on the Avenida Estados Unidos, which faces the Faro a Colon.
