Alejandro González Pons named ambassador to Mexico

In Decree 94-1 issued on 31 March 2017, President Danilo Medina named Alejandro Gonzalez Pons Dominican ambassador to Mexico.

Gonzalez Pons had been the Dominican ambassador in Belgium and head of the Dominican mission to the European Union. Previously he had served as Dominican ambassador in Spain and Chile.

He is a graduate in political sciences with a specialty in international relations from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, España. He completed postgraduate studies in international economic relations at the Sorbonne University in Paris.

In the Dominican Republic he was a professor of political sciences and diplomatic law at the UASD. He also taught sociology and economic development at INTEC University where was also dean of the social sciences faculty.
