100,000 government employees and officials will be able to improve their professional qualifications through the use of computers, software programs and other technological tools. Diario Libre reports the government will invest RD$150 million in the training program that will take place from next July to the end of 2008. The announcement was made by the directors of the Las Americas Technological Institute (ITLA), and the Presidential Office for Information Technology and Communications (OPTIC), Jose Armando Tavarez and Domingo Tavarez. The project, which also includes a literacy training and technological career specialization program for the general public, will begin next July with the training of 300 employees of Administrative Secretariat of the Presidency.
