The Red Sox fielder batted .407 (11 out of 27) and led the AL with five home runs, 27 hits and an average slugging of 1,000. The Dominican player has been selected eight times for the All-Star Game. This is the second time he has been named Player of the Week in 2005. He has received the prize 13 times during his career, the highest number in the AL together with Frank Thomas.
