American Idol season 10 winner, Scotty McCreery (www.scottymccreery-official.com/bio/default.aspx), will be flying to the Dominican Republic on December 27th and staying until December 31st to participate in ‘Operation Christmas Child’, a large global Christmas project supported by Samaritan Purse, a non-denominational evangelical Christian humanitarian organization that works worldwide to assist people in physical need alongside their Christian missionary work. The organization’s president is Franklin Graham, son of Christian evangelist Billy Graham.
McCreery will help to hand out gift boxes filled with toys, school supplies and other items to the children of the Dominican Republic who are in need of help. Operation Christmas Child’s goal this year is to deliver boxes to 8.5 million children this year.
McCreery charmed American audiences when he appeared on the program and made a name for himself with his deep country voice in May 2011. His win of season ten of American Idol was with a record-breaking 122.4 million votes cast for the finale.
