Foreign Relations Minister Andres Navarro recently held a meeting with representatives of the Santo Domingo Hotels Association and the Tourism Cluster of Santo Domingo to outline details of the main international events scheduled for 2016.
The calendar for 2016 includes the EU-LAC Foreign Relations Ministers Summit in March, to be followed in July by participants from 61 nations from Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the 46th General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) in June.
In January 2017, the country will host the Summit of presidents of CELAC, and will take over the temporary presidency of CELAC during a summit in Ecuador.
The meeting was attended by Luis Marino Lopez, Linette Arbaje, Briseida Olivero and Virginia Baez from the Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster, Elizabeth Tovar of the local tour operators association, Carlos Rodoli, Luis Felipe Aquino, dean of APEC University School of tourism, and Sina del Rosario for the city of Santo Domingo. The Santo Domingo Hotels Association was represented by Fanny Sanchez of the Plaza Colonial Hotel, Arvey Benavides from the Crowne Plaza, Jose Manuel Molina from the Dominican Fiesta, Roberto Henriquez from the Radisson Santo Domingo, Luis Padilla from the Sheraton, Ferney Garcia from the Holiday Inn Santo Domingo, Nigel Cook from the JW Marriot and Hector Concari from the Santo Domingo Hilton.
