Life returns to normal in the Dominican Republic after an unusually long Christmas, New Year and Three Kings Day holiday break. Schools reopen on Tuesday, 10 January 2017 nationwide.
Minister of Education Andrés Navarro called on students to attend on the first day of school of the second semester of the 2016-17 academic year. “If a student does not show up he will fall behind and slow down everyone else’s learning because teachers will usually not make progress until they have ensured that all the students have reached the same level,” he stated.
