The Emergency Operations Center (COE) has increased the number of provinces under green alert to six, warning of possible flooding in areas near rivers and streams.
The provinces under alert are Santiago, Dajabón, Maria Trinidad Sánchez (Nagua), Puerto Plata, Montecristi and Espaillat (Moca).
According to the National Meteorological Office (Onamet), the whole country is still being affected by a frontal system making its way to the southeast/east of the country from the west. Rains are expected to continue for 24 to 48 hours.
An alert is also in place for the Atlantic Coast, from Manzanillo to Cabo Engaño, including the bay of Samana, due to high winds and waves so use of the beaches, water sports and activities is suspended.
