
Australia has warned its citizens not to expect international travel bans to be lifted until December 2020, at the earliest. At the same time, Australia and New Zealand are considering creating a “travel bubble.” The two countries are in conversations of opening up gradually, starting with themselves.
This year, the Dominican travel industry is for the most part expected to have to rely on motivating domestic travel to reopen some resorts. Of course, all will depend on the DR stomping out the disease here.
The government has promised results this May from an ongoing random population testing, a national survey to tell how the disease has penetrated and where.
Once the situation is defined, travel bubbles inside the country could be considered for starters. Then the country could find its own travel partners abroad to gradually open up to.
