The civic movement, Participación Ciudadana (PC), on 13 July 2020 asked President Danilo Medina and President-elect Luis Abinader to publish the transition commission shared documents with the public. PC says that the public has a right to know the present situation at the change of government.
PC expects the transition commissions to reveal the public debt, outstanding payments, payments in transit. PC asks for transparency regarding the number of named and temporary employees in government, the management of special funds and tax revenue expenditures. PC also asked for transparency on the expenditures of the Public Electricity Corporation (CDEEE) for the construction of the Punta Catalina thermoelectric power central.
PC wants to know what is the real situation of the public hospitals under reconstruction, especially the Ciudad Sanitaria Luis E. Aybar in which more than RD$15 billion has been invested. President Medina had announced the inauguration of the hospital in two weeks during his 27 February 2020 state of the nation address. Despite the pressing need for hospital beds, the hospital has not been opened.
PC wants the transition and outgoing government commissions to make transparent the final report on the government financial dealings for the National State of Emergency from 19 March to 27 June 2020, especially since this was a period when many discretionary decisions were made costing the country upwards of RD$100 billion.
