The good news is that the only drug approved by the US FDA for treating Covid-19, Remdisivir, is now available in the Dominican Republic. The bad news is that if you need the treatment, it is likely your insurance will not cover it. The drug costs RD$120,000 and is only covered by those affiliated to the governmental Family Plan Insurance (SFS) until 31 August 2020.
The drug is known to reduce the severity of the disease and accelerate the recovery for seriously-ill Covid-19 patients.
