President Abinader delivers PGA Tour awards

President Luis Abinader was in Punta Cana this Sunday on the occasion of the PGA Tour. He delivered the awards to the winners of the US$4 million purse. 33-year old Hudson Swafford was the winner of the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship PGA Tour trophy and US$720,000 in prize money. Abinader was at the Corales Golf Course to watch the final round of the tournament. “With this important sporting event, the Dominican Republic and Punta Cana reopen their doors to tourism safely,” said President Abinader. He congratulated the president of the Puntacana Group, Frank Rainieri for pushing ahead with the tournament in these Covid-19 times.

Abinader took advantage of the visit to be present for the Bavaro City Center’s formal inauguration on the Carretera Barceló in the central Punta Cana area. The 12,000 square meters of shopping space has been in operation since last year. The shopping area is next door to Pueblo Bávaro residential community.

The President held a meeting with Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) members at the Westin Punta Cana and had lunch with the Rainieri family at their family home in Puntacana.
