Early cancer detection initiative launched

The Ministry of Public Health the National Health Service (SNS) and the National Health Insurance (SeNaSa) and other health sector institutions launched a project to detect cervical, breast and prostate cancer from the Presidential Palace on Monday 12 April 2021. First Lady Raquel Arbaje is backing the initiative.

Dr. Mario Lama, director of the National Health Service, explained during the presentation that the initiative includes a promotional campaign on the importance of detecting cancer early to offer timely diagnosis and treatment in the 10 designated pubic hospitals in five provinces. These are: the Luis Morillo King hospital in La Vega, President Estrella Ureña, in Santiago; Jaime Mota, in Barahona; General de Alta Especialidad HGENSA and Maternidad Nuestra Señora de La Altagracia, in Higüey; Materno Reynaldo Almánzar and Santo Socorro, in Santo Domingo; de La Mujer Dominicana, Maternidad de La Altagracia and Instituto Nacional del Cáncer Rosa Emilia Sánchez Pérez Tavares (Incart), in the National District.
