Rains forecast through Thursday

Cloudy skies and occasional rainstorms are happening nationwide as the Dominican Republic is influenced by subsequent troughs and tropical waves. Prepare for the rains through Thursday, 14 October when the weather is expected to clear.

Despite the covered skies and rains, the forecast is for muggy and high temperatures due also to passing Sahara dust clouds. Eastern provinces – San Pedro de Macoris (Juan Dolio), La Altagracia (Punta Cana), La Romana, Hato Mayor and El Seibo – will enjoy better weather this week than the Cibao provinces.

The Center for Emergency Operations has issued weather alerts for possible flooding in Monseñor Nouel (Bonao), La Vega, Monte Plata, San Cristóbal, Santo Domingo, San José de Ocoa, Sánchez Ramírez (Cotuí), Dajabón, Santiago de los Caballeros, Santiago Rodríguez, Puerto Plata and the National District.
