The US Embassy in the Dominican Republic invites Dominicans to apply to participate in the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) program in 2022. The entrepreneurship training program was begun under the US State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) in 2019 in 50 countries around the world. It seeks to provide women entrepreneurs with the skills, resources and networks needed to start and scale successful businesses. Registration is open until 15 January 2022.
The AWE program was first implemented in the Dominican Republic in 2019. The initiative is conducted virtually and includes group sessions, mentoring, a sales bootcamp and pitch development workshops.
Women entrepreneurs interested in applying must be between 18 and 55 and have a scalable business project with more than six months of experience. The program requires that the women make a five-month commitment and participate in all the weekly sessions that will be held in Santo Domingo.
AWE uses DreamBuilder, a blended learning entrepreneurship training course, developed with Arizona State University’s Thunderbird School of Management and the international copper mining company Freeport-McMoRan.
AWE is implemented in the Dominican Republic in collaboration with Pretty Busy Club and Fundación Innovati. To participate, those interested must complete the form available at AWE Dominicana
