Dominican mural in Madrid’s Metro

The Banco de Reservas inaugurated a Dominican-themed mural in the Madrid Metro as part of the cultural program underway for Fitur 2022 Fair, which is taking place in Madrid from 19 to 23 January 2022. The Dominican Republic is participating as country partner.

The mural “Dominican Republic, Reserved for You” was designed and painted by Dominican painter Wanda Cortorreal, a resident of Santo Domingo from 10 to 17 January 2022. Cortorreal was assisted by Gerson Rodríguez, a Dominican artist who lives in Spain. It had the curatorial work of Héctor Luis Farías Bautista, an expert in cultural tourism.

The president of the Madrid Metro, engineer David Perez, said the 4 meter by 1.70 meter mural will be in place for two years.

Dominican Ambassador in Spain, Juan Bolívar Díaz Santana said that the mural is one more step in the reaffirmation of the friendship ties and good relations between the Dominican Republic and Spain. Díaz Santana considered that the work represents the vibrancy of the Dominican culture and is an invitation to travel to the country.

Samuel Pereyra, general manager of BanReservas is in Madrid to participate in Fitur. He announced the government bank has approved financing for more than RD$7 billion to construct some 12,795 housing units in different tourist projects in the country.

Samuel Pereyra added that Banreservas has financed 1,700 housing units in tourism projects in the East and North destinations for a value of more than US$48.4 million.
