“Legendaddy” would be the Puerto Rican reggaeton star’s last concert tour (La Ultima Vuelta) after a three-decade career in music. 12 November 2022 is the date scheduled for his Dominican Republic performance.
In introducing the retirement tour, Daddy Yankee spoke about his influence on younger generations. “In the barrios, where we grew up, most of us wanted to be drug dealers. Today, I go to barrios and caserios, and the majority want to be artists, and that means a lot to me,” he said.
Wikipedia credits Daddy Yankee (Ramon Ayala) with creating reggaeton in 1994 to describe the new music genre emerging from Puerto Rico that synthesized American hip-hop, Latin Caribbean music, and Jamaican reggae rhythms with Spanish rapping and singing.
