USA opens consular office in Puerto Plata

The United States Embassy in the Dominican Republic announced the formal opening of a new consular agency in Puerto Plata. Tourism Minister David Collado was invited to the Puerto Plata consular agency ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Collado tweeted: “It was a great honor to be invited to the ribbon-cutting of the new American Embassy consular office in Puerto Plata, in the company of the Consul General of the United States in the country, William Swaney, to support American tourists visiting this province.”

US consular agencies provide US citizen-focused services. These include emergency assistance, acceptance of applications for non-emergency US passports and notarial services for US citizens residing in or visiting the northern and eastern coasts of the Dominican Republic. The consular agencies do not provide visa services.

The US consular agencies are located in Punta Cana at Palma Real Shopping Village, Business Center, Bávaro, La Altagracia province. The Consular Agency in Puerto Plata is located at Plaza El Doral, Carretera Luperon KM 3 ½, Puerto Plata province. The US Consulate is located in Los Rios, Santo Domingo North.
