Starlink Arrived in the DR
Good afternoon. We are contemplating Starlink. Or Hotspot. To those who live in the Samaná peninsula... And know the Proyecto in Las Pascuales.... Any recommendations or reservations about Starlink / vs Hot Spot connectivity reliability or disconnectivity issues? Both are costly... But... with each building being so close to another... My roof is not as high as the next... what do you recommend?
Order it with the LAN adapter and conect a good router and a high end wifi booster and you will be fine !!!
Unlink traditional “fixed” satellites, Starlink uses a constellation of constantly moving satellites thus why the dish has to keep moving. This site gives a good idea of satellites for Starlink and can be zoomed in for Dominican Republic.

Does that mean the angle might be directed toward obstacles below? Like buildings that would block the signal,?
Buildings , trees any obstruction between the dish and the sky....... keep moving the dish untjl it works
Use the Starlink app where the dish should go, it tells you what the dish will see.
Had one position with some obstacles and though it’s working fine but at some points you will lose other satellites and face downtime. Placed it on the roof now and not a second of downtime ever.
Maybe put it on your neighbors higher roof and share the internet with him.

Not really. Installed one at Orchid Bay in Cabrera. Points at approx 45 degree angle towards the ocean/north. Same true for most places on the North Coast. Close tree or a building will cause obstruction.
