Here is a bit of advice to would-be David Bailey?s (renowned photographer?) ? DON?T snap suggestive pictures of your ?girly conquests? whilst here on holiday ? even MORE so if you live or intend living here!!
An internet contact of mine who has visited the country on many occasions did just that on one of his visits & then compounded the folly by sending some of the photos to friends of his via e-mail. He may even have sent some to one of the ?Dominican Girls we have met? websites ? but that is not confirmed yet. Now these were NOT your CentrePage of Playboy, full nudity type photos, just the bikini/partially clad & ?sexy poses? type photos & quite suitable for sending on to friends via e-mail especially if he had had the girls consent. My acquaintance is not into pornographic photo shoots (as far as I am aware!)/
It appears that one or two of the photographs were possibly shown to her by one of the recipients of the e-mail sent out (maybe a boyfriend who thought she was ?HIS? only?) & needless to say, the girl got a bit upset at seeing her posterior being posted across the internet whilst she didn?t get a single peso for the coverage!! So, this time he came a-visiting, the girl who had supposedly had her photo taken by this acquaintance of mine, decided to have him locked up by the fiscal until he paid over some BIG money towards her retirement income fund!! My contact was arrested whilst having an evening meal, driven to the nastier jail in Puerto Plata right by the central square & incarcerated with the regular jailbirds of narco traffickers, thieves, violent attackers etc. etc. etc. Being fairly unused to this environment he was soon overwhelmed by the dangerous environment he found himself in.
Cutting out the ages taken in negotiations, (the ?to?s & fro?s? of Dominican authorities wanting their cut of the ?Gringo?s? extensive wallet) & going straight to the end result, this cost my contact 24 hours in a nasty jail, RD $3,000 in propinas, a trip to the Court House handcuffed to await release by the Judge & a payment of US $3,000 approx (down from the US $10,000 it started at) to all the interested parties ? 2 lawyers, the girl, the judge maybe, ???.. maybe even the ?boyfriend? who started the whole scenario of having received the e-mail photo. Who knows ???
Bear in mind that my acquaintance had a couple of Gringo Ex-Pats whom he knew to help him. These two had picked up a few things since coming to live here & obviously had a contact or two from the way telephone calls started coming in. The US of A Consul was advised of the situation within the hour (even though he is presently out of the country) & he somehow got hold of an otherwise elusive Duty Officer at the American Embassy who started to do HIS thing. The man was out of the main smelly, overcrowded & dangerous jail area in very short order & into a reasonably safe place so he could get some sleep during the nights stay. Not ALL inmates will be so lucky as most Ex-Pats will steer clear of these situations.
So good women/girl chasers, take heed of this warning. It COULD have been something organized many trips ago. It could have been a random opportunity taken rapidly by a hungry lawyer smelling lots of gringo money. As I am unaware of the contents of the original e-mail & even less knowledgeable about the girl in question, I do not know if this was a ?Justifiable? arrest, but I note with concern the opportunities this offers to many girls plying their bodies for trade in that many men like to take photos of these beautiful ?conquests? so that they can pass them over to their friends. If you intend returning to this country in future years ???? do NOT send the photos on especially if those you send to are likely to visit the DR or know people living here. The photos COULD find their way back to the girl whose photo you took!! What is even worse for those of you who ?like the girls? is that you don?t even need to have taken photos to get accused!! Any girl can lay the complaint against you, you are then arrested & incarcerated until you can prove your innocence, OR the police can not get enough evidence together in a 72 hour period to justify you being taken to court ??, OR you pay up. Most people facing 72 hours or more in a dirty, smelly & dangerous cell with hardened criminals will generally settle for paying up. THIS is what the girls & the lawyers prey on!! ~ Grahame.
