hi all

could you please give me some info on this hotel
i have been changed from bahia principe rio san juan
to this hotel

and as far as i can see its nothing compared to bahia

we are very upset to have been moved.

any info welcome good or bad

the reviews that ive read dont seem to good nor the photos...

is their anything outside of the hotel and what is the disco like ?

sorry all the questions just this has gutted me.

There is a "disco" onsite but usually not so good.

For local music take a taxi to the Rancho Tipico Puerto Plata, it is about 10 minutes away. It is usually good Friday Saturday and Sunday.

Of course you are also not far from Ocean World, the lounge is open on Friday and Saturday often with special events. The casino there is closest and quite nice.

i didnt think the hotel would be that good.
at least at bahia the disco on site is very good and free drinks all night
then you can head in rio san juan to franks, millennium or the other club

*can you tell i really dont want to go to this awful hotel*

there seems to be nothing to do and im going for 3 weeks what a dissapointment
have been looking forward to this holiday for months*

keep up the info

there has to be something good

After 100 posts on DR1 you tend to be more positive,:ermm: laid back:tired: & aware of how to organise things for yourself ......:cheeky:;):cheeky:........ HONEST!! Look at all the others that have stayed around that long!:eek:gre:! Well Okay, a COUPLE of exceptions I agree but THEY will always be miserable S**s who just like moaning for the sake of it & to try & make everyone else's day as miserable as their's!! im not trying to make anyones day misrable
i was looking for some insight to this hotel..

what is around, as i heard the hotel goes dead at 11.
and your drinks arnt free in the disco

im going for 3 weeks and its long time to be bored.
dont you think...

im not a s**t either graeme!!!

I went last time in December last year. the drinks were free at the Disco.

The drinks aren't free at Riu's Disco in Punta Cana, but in POP they are.

When you were at the Bahia, you only had Rio san Juan anywhere close.

Puerto Plata is much larger then Rio san Juan and you will find lots to do. If you like to get out to local spots you will have lots and lots of choice. I'd be happy to show you around! Your 3 weeks don't have to be aweful. While the hotel disco is not great you have so much choice around you so don't worry.

I think the main thrust of the holiday was to get into Rio San Juan & visit a girl she has come to know - helping out with presents & things from England. If Rio~San~Juan is prepared to pay petrol (& maybe a drink or two) does your offer extend to a day out down there??

You see Rio ....... ?? Always a chance of good happenings after your 100th post!:cheeky:! ~ Grahame.

No problem to go to Rio san Juan - you buy the gas and I will skip the drinks if I am driving......LOL

You are getting bumped up about a full star!! The Bahia is a 4 star place and the bachata goes from 4.5 to 5 stars. It is newer, 2 great pools, beach sucks, beautiful lobby, nice rooms with fridge and booze topped up every second day for free. We have been there a couple of times and both times the drinks were NOT free at the disco.
BTW, when you stay at the bachata, you can play at all 3 of the Riu's, the Merengue and the Mambo too. The Bachata is the newest and nicest of the 3 but you might want to visit the others for lunch or just to see them.

I won't put my hand in fire in Re: drinks these days, but when I visited first time Nov 2005 and then Dec 2006, both times the drinks were free. I know that for sure. It's the only hotel in PP area I have been to, so I am sure I am not confusing it with some othe rplace.

The disco is underneath a white clock tower and has a small patio outside. So it's the one.

OK, resolved once and forever:

Just called the hotel. The drinks ARE included in the disco in Riu complex in PP.

I was there in Dec 2005 and I can't remember the disco at all! I was mixing up my earlier post with the disco in Sirenis Tropical in Punta Cana! The other info is still valuable though and it IS a nicer hotel!

There is nothing to do at this hotel. I stayed here for a week, the disco sucks and the hotel is too far out to go anywhere. The only good thing for me was I meet my husband here... And look out for the guards,they like it when you get drunk and try to take advantage of you . What ever you do don't go down on the beach at night, especialy if you are drinking the will try and do anything with you. Also after the disco closes at night the bartenders try to find girls that they can mess around with when they close, and the guards stand outside so you get get inside. This happend to my girlfirend and they did'nt want to let me in. But I pushed myself through. And that's when I saw a bunch of girls with all these guys taking advantage of them. And the beach part, they tried this with us too. But thank god my husband(not at the time,he worked here.) was there he came and got us off the beach before anything could happed. I would never go here again. Locals also come up from the beach at night too. So be very careful...
