How much(approx) did it cost to set up your sensors...etc to be able to record your weather stats? I would be intersted in doing something simular in Jarabacoa when we move there. Thanks in advance.

The sensors we use for our clients, and that I use here, are made by Peet Brothers. Over ten years I have found them to be more reliable, less expensive, and much more flexible than others on the market. And we did by one of just about every brand to test and compare some years back. Check them out here. The dealers who sell our computer systems in the states offer these as options to our clients at a 10%-20% discount from the officially listed prices so anyone here interested in weather sensors for the DR just need PM me and I can arrange them basically at cost. The list prices depend on what type of sensors you want. To get baromteric pressure, the base unit is $399 (pre-discount), without pressure it's $279, and there's a minimal model that can't accept a humidity sensor for $199. The humidity sensor is $110 extra, a rain guage is $90 extra, and there's a really cool wall display that I use you should check out too.

Disclaimer: Neither I nor or dealer's receive any income from these sensors. They are just an add on to our main product so this is not an advertisement in any way. There are many brands of electronic sensors on the market that you could use to enjoy weather watching here in the DR. Someday though I'd like to write a program to upload data from these sensors to a live DR1 weather page and this brand is uniquely suited to the task because they have a simple serial data output that connects to a computer's serial port and is fully documented.
