Jamao no power since 5 a.m. Heavy rains at times, followed by lighter rains. Light breezes. I worry about the poor living in rusty metal roof houses. No place to go, no place to get dry. Everything inside the house wet, including furniture, beds, etc.

Report from La Romana (Casa de Campo) is that the storm is blowing through very hard now. My brother reports he has just lost his coconut tree that produced the best coconuts in the world. Reports are that small ecotourism businesses in the area area affected and will need help in getting back going. This means the storm weather could be headed to Santo Domingo. Right now, just a drizzle of rain.

I don't think it's going to hit Santo Domingo. If you look at the radar, you can see it is right over Casa de Campo but most of the rain is still over Puerto Rico, and the whole storm is now moving up towards Samana.

I don't think the National Weather Service shows anything outside the USA. so you're just seeing the PR part. If you look at the overview on that site you can see the difference:

but really there are storms outiside the USA

Santo Domingo is on the edge of the storm, it's been raining since 4am i think? but the winds aren't as strong as they were earlier.

Honestly, in Santo Domingo if someone hadn't told you there was a hurricane going on, you wouldn't know there was. Yes it has been raining and it's a bit windy but nothing at all unusual or severe. The tornado we had a couple of weeks ago, and the torrential rain we had last week were way worse. We are very lucky indeed.

Same here in Santiago so far. Hope it stays like that...

Is anybody reporting from Samana areas like El Portillo/Las Terrenas?

The eye of the hurricane appears be just East of this area of Samana

I read a report on Apple news that she will go north... slide up the coast to Samana and march on to Turks & Caicos...gaining strenght

Mind you , hurricane force winds extend 40 miles out..... beyond that for 100 miles more, they are tropical strength winds
That's the whole north coast
