We're in town and received a short video from a friend of the latest devastating fire that occurred at around 6pm today. The restaurants on the beach near the cemetery are in flames. I would upload it, but it seems I don't have enough website privileges.

According to social media, it started out small, a propane tank exploded, and then the whole strip went up in flames.

Are they the same fisherman restaurants that have already burned down twice before?

Supposedly there was no water from INAPA to fight the fire. They need to consider setting up a few “dry hydrants” along the shore line to draw ocean water to extinguish fires.

No Water. That seems to be a common problem here.

Yes but that would involve the municipality INVESTING in the community which would be detrimental to their personal wealth.
In LT they (the municipality) leave the investing to the foreigners & gringos, why would they help their own and the local community?.

from what we've learned, one of the shady restaurants on the beach was warned of the smell of gas in her kitchen. Shortly afterwards, propane gas ignited things and she was sent to the hospital with severe burns

Since the fire, they were quick rebuilding. They are installing a water tank nearby so in case something happens, they will be able to get rid of fire, fast and they will wide that road so they can connect to the bridge ahead.
