Hi again,
I know I'm asking a whole lot of questions but I want to make sure I use my days in D.R well and you guys are so helpful. Just some background, I'm originally from there but moved when I was still very young but have been back numerous times as a kid/teeneager. This will be my first trip as an adult (so I don't have mami and papi planning out where we're going) and I'm taking my husband with me who has never been out of the U.S. The problem is we're only going to be there for a week and we want to do everything!!! We also have to make time for family and such so if anyone has any tips on how to maximize our time there, like what we should see and do. Where to eat and so one that would be great!!! Thanks again!

Wow! - Hubby has neve been outside the USA? - Interesting. First, make sure that you have a blindfold :pirate: for him so that he does not have his "wandering eye" looking at the Chicas.

Seriously, Where in SD will you be staying? - Try to visit Boca Chica, for your beach time and hit the Colonial Zone for your culture, Bang out the Jarragua Casino on the weekend at night for dancing and fun and walk the malecon. Also, El Conde is nice to do on 1 of the afternoons. If you can squeeze in another city like Sosua (4 hours by bus) would be nice to do also

Search all of the threads, there is GREAT things to do here.

The hubby is a bit sheltered but he's really looking forward to something new! We'll be staying in the alma rosa area of santo domingo. I've heard great things about El Meson de la Caba but I haven't heard of Luiguis Parillada if you could give me more info, I'd appreciate it. Also is the tres ojos worth going to see? I've heard mixed reactions. Thanks for the wonderful suggestions.

Have Fun

Regarding Meson de la Cava, having dined there 5 time (invited) in past year, I would not recommend it. Food was not very good ever ! El ambiente is marvelous for a visit and drink & apetizer. Then leave. Many better places to dine in SD, which are far superior dining experiences. Certainly visit the Colonial Zone and it many good restaurants and sites. Have fun in your birth country. ;)

I think the OP might have meant d'luis parrillada on the malecon? If so, I also recommend. Nice breeze and good food.
