Oop... just realized "puta" might be seen as derogatory... no harm intended.

You might try the Fior di Loto hotel in Juan Dolio, about 25 kms. E of Santo Domingo. Take a guagua from the Parque Enriquillo towards San Pedro and ask the driver to let you out at the Marena (or la primera ferreteria). You will see a large white building down the street just E of the hardware store. That is the Fior de Loto. It has nice kichenettes decorated in an East Indian design for $30 US per day. Fans, no AC, but I didn't need the AC. Stroll down the main street to the Neito Colmado and the Cacique Bar and you might meet a chica or two in the afternoon or evening. Try the fish at Don Pablo's Cafe. It's more laid back than Boca Chica, and there is a fancy disco and a casino a $100 peso motoconcho (or $30 peso guagua ride) down to the Banco Popular sign. The fancy part of Juan Dolio has some AI resorts and other amusements.
Cabarete, Sosua, and Las Terrenas all will have more action.
People on this forum have been very helpful. So, before I "pull the trigger", one last inquiry.
Your opinion: Best place to land for 1st time visitor.
Interests: peace, landscapes, women, people who don't mind an artist sitting around drawing sh#t, or making photographs, good food, and sublime coffee.
Wishing to avoid: drama of any kind, machete wielding crack heads, gun toting juveniles, pit bulls, and cockroaches.
Thanks to all who will respond. If I don't get outta here in the next few days, my head will fall off.
