Are there any hotels that you guys are familar with in santo domingo that I can book from a travel site like kayak or travelocity, that will allow dominican women in the hotel? I ask because I'm booking a trip with a few other people, one who has never been. I wan't them to feel comfortable with the booking and what-not. I know alot of hotels will let you reserve a room but you don't really give a payment until you arrive. I would feel more comfortable booking from one of these sites, but its hard finding one with out a review saying "this hotel doesn't allow dominican's in the hotel". Thanks!

I've never heard of hotels down here not allowing locals to enter. Would the concierge profile everyone at the entrance and say "you look like a Dominican. Lo siento, pero no puedes entrar?"

about hotels

i have been to the dominican once and i am going a second time soon, i would use bookingbuddy or bookings.com for hotels if you want something more cheaper than kayak. As for bringing in locals you can bring them with you, your paying for the room so doesnt matter if it is a local. My fiance is dominican and he is always able to stay any place that i book. Most places make you pay once you arrive but you print off your booking with your total price and pay what price it says on your paper its fairly simple. hope you have a lovely trip and hope that helps you a bit.

I believe he is asking about "chica friendly" hotels, but I do not think they list that as a "feature" on travel sites.

I think so too. :paranoid:

And despite the first several responses, there are a lot of hotels in DR who will not allow a chica [or chico!] into their elevators/guest rooms unless they are registered guests.

Yes I was referring to a "chica" friendly hotel, sorry about confusion. When I'm on kayak or wherever, I go to the worst reviews and usually there is a guy or women complaining that their Dominican girlfriend/fianc? and/or Dominican looking American travel companion has problems at some of these hotels. So i was looking more if anyone has been at a major hotel in the capital that was chica friendly. I was told the Marriott Santo Domingo Jaragua hotel and casino is good as long as they have the cedula (sorry if I’m spelling it wrong) Dominican ID. Has anyone stayed here? Also this is off topic, does anyone have a correct address for the crystal strip club? I can’t find it anywhere.

I would never use normal search sites to find a hotel anywhere in the Dominican Republic. The "walk-up" price is always lower than the prices listed as "discounts" on those sites. I recently stayed at a Santo Domingo hotel where I've stayed more than 2 dozen times over the past 6 years. I've seen the place at capacity many times in the past but they are struggling to maintain a 40% month to month occupancy rate. Hotels are dying in the DR as a result of the falloff in tourism.

That being the case, I did a walking tour of Boca Chica before deciding on a hotel there. I'd spent a night or two at beach front dives before but I wanted a room for 6 days this time. I spoke with a half dozen and chose the one I liked best based on aesthetics, convenience, value and staff. You learn a lot about a hotel just by walking into the lobby and talking to the staff. Of course an ex-pat buddy gave me a word-of-mouth referral and I ended up at Villa Florencia which frankly blew the other choices away.

The Jaragua will allow a woman in your room as long as you list her name when you check in. You can list 2 names when you are checking in.

I think he probably doesn't know their names yet so how could he list them when he checks in? That's if he asks her name. Psssssstttt

The Marriott Courtyard will permit dominican guests if you check them in first. It doesn't have to be when you check in.
