As I review this post....

I think of Gorgon... who helped me.

What if he added services to his business?

Like LED headlights -- audio -- seat covers -- bumper guards

These are all accessories that car buyers often want or need.

As in my case... when he did the legwork while i was away...
He could pre-install a radio ( would have saved me time/money) or anything else.

Sounds like a good idea to me
Why not?? It's my idea !!

Volunteering Gorgon for a new business ? I think it would be good - if he could import and take that hassle out of the mix for a radio or car parts - but I think Gorgon probably hates the frustration like everyone. And he probably is not running for that office.
Remember Pat Paulsen. "If nominated I will not run, if elected I will not serve"

That would make him grumpy and cantankerous....well more so :)

life in RD is simple but complicated

The new Isuzu.... no real problems but i have had an insight into Dominican brains...

When I rec'd the car the rear left tail lights were funky...
Took it to my mecanico and we found the wires were cut... cut....

I suppose the previous owner disconnected his aftermarket rear view camera in a hurry...
not a problem, I was installing my own

In my euphoria, I was enjoying my music (tin ear and all)
upon my return to Jeepland in Canada , I noticed I enjoyed my music more there.

So, off I go to the director of the local symphony to acquire a new sound system (aka - speakers)
after the big radio investment !! Upgrade to CarPlay etc

As it turns out....
our friendly seller must have a special sound system ---
which was removed before trade in and replaced with 'basura'
rears broken beyond recognition... fronts--- not so good.

whodathunkit ????

Anyway... back in business now
ready for Dick Clark or Lloyd Thaxton.....
a Dancin' King...... not Queen....

sooo,
a word to the wise.... watch the sound system in used car purchases

happy shopping

Another happy customer, Thank you the Gorgon. We bought a beautiful used car, low km, looks lime new. 2012 Ford Edge, in excellent condition. If you're looking to buy a car, call him, he'll find it for you. The Gorgon is the expert, it's not complicated. Thank you Mike.

What dou you do when people have cars - recommend they sell or have you worked reasonable trades ?

i have gotten a few dealers to take current cars as trade ins, and i have also gotten some dealers to take cars on consignment, allowing them to sit on lots for sale, without any financial committment from the dealer.

I had a trade when working with Gorgon.

The dealer was prepared to put it on the lot (consignment).
I actually sold it privately and the dealer did all the paperwork.

Again, finding a good dealer involves the trade aspect too.

Remember, if you have a good car, Gorgon gets calls.
I’m sure he could sell as well as buy.

Another happy customer-Thank you the Gorgon.

Helping a young family member buying his first car.
After looking at a few pieces of overprice junk in SD I decided to call the help of the Gorgon. We told the Gorgon what model and the budget we had. After a few days the Gorgon had the car we were looking for.

Meet the Gorgon the next day at the dealer and this was the car we were looking for within our budget.
The Gorgon had look over and inspect the car the previous day.
This used car had realistic mileage for a 2014 and the original manufacture paint unlike the camouflage overprice junk that we had previous seem.

The gorgon knows his cars and deals with reliable people and his price is very reasonable for his expert service.
If you are going to buy a used car in the DR I would recommend that you use the Gorgon services as they are many sharks out there selling nice looking junk.
The Gorgon is also a very pleasant person, glad to meet him.

Those ubiquitous orange vehicles we see everywhere are all propane powered.

Apparently , from a Chinese taxi fleet.

I had one in my company's fleet back in the days of coal oil lamp lighting.
Certainly, for a high mileage vehicle - a highway car - it saves money.
We never toodled around town in that car... it was the distance runner in the lineup

actually, they are from Korea. the ugly orange colored examples were all taxi cabs. they were built to last a million kilometers if you serviced them properly...

if you go to buy one, and it is a 2013, and the guy says it has 70k miles, he is lying..

those guys know how to build things to a purpose. if you look at all the Hyundai N20, Y20, and LPI, they all have one trim...black leatherette. no choices. plastic everywhere, basic trim. the money saved goes into the design of indestructible drivetrain and engine.

Somebody should import the used Police Vehicles to RD.

They are the 'Tough Built' vehicle in the USA... brakes bigger... all works
and well serviced when deployed.

High miles on the resale... but cared for.... and built for the miles.
Built to run however many a day............

only problem is than many are 8 cylinder beasts, designed to be able to pursue, and they guzzle gas. the Hyundais are ideal for the DR.
