Do many Dominicans come to Chicago ? I have never read or heard of anyone from the Dominican Republic actually saying that they are going to Chicago to either live or to visit. I know of many that head to the East Coast, but not to the Midwest.....anyone out there from the RD actually in the Chicago area ?

Dominicans in Chicago

There are lots of Dominicans spread out in the Chicagoland area--including nearby northwest Indiana. There are no Dominican neighborhoods here where almost everybody is Dominican, such as Washington Heights in NYC.
Every year they celebrate a Dominican music festival where I have seen
thousands of Dominicans attending. This year the festival is going to take place at 1st Avenue & Roosevelt Rd., in Maywood IL. The date is August 19th. There is a Dominican Association here whose telephone number is 708 257-1815. They would have more detailed information if you need it.
