can anyone recommend an English speaking doctor anywhere near the colonial zone?
thanks in advance
I have found a physician who is excellent but his practice is limited to radiology. He speaks excellent English, lived in Conneticut, is from Spain, has an office and apartment across from Padre Billini hospital. He is also professor of chemistry at the national university. His name is Dr. Santiago Vicente. His address is Calle Santome, 174, Zona Colonial. Both I and my girlfriend have seen him several times for radiological procedures. For example, recently my girlfriend had a Doppler for carotoid arteries. He has become my friend and often gives free advice.
For example, I had an issue with a chronic wound. He wrote me a referral on the spot to a dermatologist at the Dermatological Clinic near Morgan. There I paid RD 200 to see a physician and she also gave me free medications. Also, that clinic, being semi-public, requiring insurance or fees that, for us, are small, is cleaner than the hospital Padre Billini. Padre Billini has a heavier pathogenic bacterial load than the clinic given that the clients at the former are more destitute and have greater health issues. Most physicians at Padre Billini wear masks, for this reason. However, I have also been to Padre Billini as a patient, for light stuff, such as ear infections, and had no problem. With your passport you get a card for RD 100, then make an appointment for a general consult, then get a referral to a specialist if necessary, then make an appointment with that specialist. You could wait weeks or months between appointments. All physician visits are free. You only pay for procedures and prescriptions.
I have blah, blah, blahed quiet a bit.
In short, I recommend Dr. Vicente either for radiology or just stop in and ask for free advice as to the best way to meet your needs. 1 and 1/2 blocks south of El Conde, towards the ocean, on the right hand side, press the buzzer, and walk up one flight of stairs. There is electronic lift if you need assistance. Tell him that his American friend, Kurt, referred you.
